The Question Is…
What do you think of George Bush’s plan to spend $200 billion to rebuild New Orleans?

Dr. David Moss, Allenhurst
Honestly, I would have left it flooded, turned it into a resort of some kind and build around the periphery on high ground.
If it did it now, it will probably flood again.

Dave Moss, DDS, Allenhurst
I think its something that he needs to do. If its just a matter of how were going to pay for it without increasing the deficit.
If I have to pay more taxes, I might be willing to.
It depends on how the proposal comes down.

Terry Tucker w/Tyler, Asbury Park
I think if we need to spend 200 billion to rebuild – thats fine. We have spent so much overseas over the years, its good to spend it at home.
Well spend that in Iraq before all is said and done – and what will we have to show for it.

Carmine & Carol Venes, Allenhurst
We think its a have too. We have to rebuild. We cant let it sit like that.
To pay for it, we need to cut some of the pork barrel, like the bridge to nowhere in the midwest.
They have to redirect some of that money for humanitarian reasons – not just economics.

Chris Rogers, Allenhurst
I think its great. I think he should. Its one of the biggest tourist attractions in America.
It doesnt matter if we get the money from taxpayers or where ever – we have to fix that city.

Carmen Nelson & Valerie Edinger, Allenhurst
Carmen: I dont know the details, so I dont think Im in a position to comment on it.
They need all the help they can get, but I dont know how the rest of the country is going to take it.
Valerie: I agree with her. Mom knows best – sometimes.
Were all going to pay for it.

Daryl Ericson, Maplewood & Scott Gerson, Union
We agree that its a great idea to rebuild. We just dont know where hes getting the money – this so called fat that hes trimming.
The upper middle class should be taxed more and not have as many benefits, and dont tax the middle and lower class.
My question is where is all this extra money being hidden – and why isnt it being used for something socially acceptable before this?

Violet Rudolph, Asbury Park
I think its a great idea. Those people were born and raised down there and they want to stay there. I would.
Government tax money should pay for it.
Weve paid for all the other countries over the years.
Its payback time.
