Ocean Head Coach Wins Her 150th Victory
By WALTER J. ONEILL JR.
Thursday of last week the Ocean Township High School field hockey team traveled to Middletown South to play a Shore Conference Class A North game. The game was very dramatic for Spartan fans as Ocean won 2-1 and head coach Donna DeNoble reached a career milestone.
Alex DeVito scored the game winning goal at the 59th minute mark. That goal kept the Ocean Spartans undefeated at 4-0-1.
Two perfect passes, said DeNoble in regard to the score.
Becky Rant of Ocean Township received an assist on the game winning goal after sending one of those two perfect passes to DeVito. The first perfect pass was sent from Nora Bosmans who advanced the ball just outside the circle before passing to Rant, who then found an open DeVito.
Ocean not only remained unbeaten, head coach DeNoble earned her 150th career victory. Field hockey is more than a sport to DeNoble, a graduate of Ocean Township High School Class of 1984, it is a passion.
