Ocean Head Coach Wins Her 150th Victory
When asked about some of her former players that made an impact DeNoble was gracious.
They have all made an impact, said DeNoble. However, Nicole Falco was a great player as was Jeannette Young, Monica Berggrud and Alison Enderly.
Some low points in her career took place early on.
My second and third season as head coach was awful, said DeNoble. My second season we were only 2-11 and the next year we ended at 5-9-1. We have not had a losing season since.
In 2004 the Spartans were 17-3 under the watchful eye of DeNoble and were crowned Conference Champs. Last year I had five seniors who played a lot, said DeNoble. This year I return a lot of players and have only three seniors.

Donna DeNoble is the head coach for the girls field hockey team in Ocean Township.
Looking back on her successful career DeNoble says that this years squad is unique. I have very young team with a lot of experience, added DeNoble. Ninety percent of my team is back, and they are talented.
DeNoble has an intense coaching style.
I am very focused and try to be motivational, said DeNoble. I draw the players in and get them to work together as hard as they can for a common goal.
One of the many reasons for the Spartans success is that DeNoble knows how to manage and delegate. I dont do everything for everybody, said DeNoble. My strengths are working with goal keepers. My assistant coaches help out tremendously.
Another former Ocean Township graduate now coaching the Spartans is D.D DEspostio, Courtney Hoffman and Sue Henderson. We all work together to improve our players, added DeNoble.
Over the years the sport of field hockey has changed. The game is much faster and the players more athletic, said DeNoble. The grassroots program in Ocean is something that DeNoble credits for the success at the varsity level. Karen Baldwin is our eighth grade coach and doing a wonderful job.
This year DeNoble hopes to win the division and make a run at the Central and State titles.
The youth, experience and talent I have to work with this year is exciting and Im looking forward to a successful year.
