Two Men Charged With Attempted Carjacking in Ocean
Two men are in the Monmouth County Correctional Facility in $150,000 bail following their arrest in Ocean Township in connection with an attempted carjacking.
Police said a 24-year-old woman was putting her child in her vehicle Sept. 22 on Route 66 at approximately 5 p.m. when she saw two men running toward her. She quickly got into her car and locked the doors.
The men tried to open her door while they repeatedly yelled at her.
The woman, alarmed at their actions, started her car, drove away and called 911.
Sgt. Wayne Stewart located the two men a short distance away and when Police Officer Todd Gregory arrived, the two men were placed under arrested.
Charged with attempted carjacking and conspiracy were Mark Clancy, 69, of Port Chester, N.Y. and Mark Johnson, 50, of Long Branch. Clancy was also charged with possession of a knife and being a fugitive.
