Ocean fans erupted into a thunderous applause as the Spartans tied the game with the Bulldogs. With only minutes to play Ocean picked up the pressure and attacked the Rumson-Fair Have goal. Several shots were blocked by Melissa Barnett, the goalkeeper for the Bulldogs.

The horn sounded to end the game and both teams had 2 goals each. The players expected an overtime match, however since both schools play in different divisions the game was called a draw.

It was a great game, said DeNoble. We played well for most of the game, however, in key situations we gave us a little too much.

The Spartans are now 6-0-2 while the Bulldogs are now 8-0-1.

I felt we could have played better today, DeNoble said. Leah Burns played great defense today. We assigned her to the best offensive player Rumson had.

Erin Conway was the Ocean goalkeeper who had 10 saves in the net. The Spartans had a 22-13 shot on goal advantage.

Scoring an unassisted goal in the game with Rumson-Fair Haven was Jenna Galatro (17) of Ocean Township.
