Restoration of Library Park in Asbury Park by the Asbury Park Historical Society continues with plantings focusing on the pathways.

The society applied for and received a $4300 matching grant in 2005 from the Monmouth County Historical Commission to continue the restoration of the traditional trees, shrubs and flowers in Asbury Parks historic Library Square Park.

This year, the society has committed to restoring over $10,000 worth of historic plantings, with a focus on the pathways that line the park.

Thorpe’s Nursery & Landscaping Co. is currently in the process installing 325 Yews to line both the eastern and western pathways leading into the Park; this represents close to one-half of the total amount of Yews required to restore the plantings lining all pathways in the Park.
