Athlete of the Week: Chris Pozo

Chris Pozo is a senior co-captain for the Neptune boys soccer team. He moved from Ecuador to the United States during high school. This season the Scarlet Fliers forward has 11 goals and five assists.
Things could have been very different for Neptune senior soccer player, Chris Pozo, who hails from the central American nation of Ecuador.
Pozo said had his family not moved to the United States three years ago, he probably would be playing proffessional soccer in Ecuador right now.
When his family, which included his parents and two brothers, moved from Ecuador to the U.S. during his freshman year of high school, soccer had to take a back seat to getting adjusted to a new country and grasping the English language.
He took about a year off from the sport, before joining the Scarlet Fliers soccer team during his sophomore year.
Pozo grew up playing futbol in soccer crazed Ecuador, where he learned the game from his two older brothers Henry and Johnathan.
He said Henry was a very good player, who taught him everything about soccer.
In fact, Henry played for his high school team in Ecuador, making for the squad for a school with 4,000 students.
Pozo said Henry helped the schools team capture the soccer championship for high schools in Ecuador.
