Neptune City Officials Plan Improvements at Adams Field

Neptune City officials hope to receive a $245,0000 state grant to improve Adam Field on W. Sylvania Avenue.

A public hearing was held Monday night to discuss the renovations to the field.

Changes would include the following: resurfacing of the basketball courts, drainage in the back field area, renovated bathrooms with two handicap accessible stalls and removal of the playground equipment. New construction would meet Americans with Disability Act (ADA) requirements as well as safety standards.

Plans also include paving and striping the parking lot which would increase parking spaces to 58 with three handicap areas. The hockey court will also be resurfaced and the walk-path around the park would be redone.

Mayor Tom Arnone said the borough finds improvements to Adams Field necessary.

Changes would include resurfacing of the basketball courts, drainage in the back field area, renovated bathrooms with two handicap accessible stalls and removal of the playground equipment.

“We have been discussing these changes and quickly applied for grant money to offset the cost,” explained the mayor. “If all goes as planned, we will be notified in March if we are awarded the grant and work could begin in July.”

The Monmouth County Park system will review the plans and could offer more suggestions for the park. The grant application will be submitted on November 4, 2005 to the state.

In other business, Arnone announced the town’s Halloween curfew.

“On Sunday the curfew will be at 8 p.m. and on Halloween we are extending it to 9 p.m. because the Community Center is hosting a party and we need to give the residents ample time to get home,” said the mayor.

For more information on the Halloween party, contact the Community Center at 732-774-0089.

The next borough council meeting will be held on Mon., Nov. 14 beginning at 7:30 p.m.
