West Lake Avenue Information Center Opens

Page 2 of 2 Bridget James, a member of MURC who lives on 7th Avenue in Neptune, said she is looking forward to the results of the redevelopment project on West Lake Avenue.

Most of the process has been done, James said. Now we need the groundwork to be done.

Oliver said the public will be informed when decisions are made about the specific hours that the information center will be open.

The redevelopment on West Lake Avenue was spearheaded by Oliver and other residents who were concerned about conditions on the street.

During the late 1990s, Oliver, along with former Neptune mayor Patricia Monroe, started a committee which would eventually come to be called MURC.

Since becoming mayor in 2004, Catley has continued to push the redevelopment process forward, as he has said revitalizing West Lake Avenue is the top priority of his administration.

In June Neptune township held a demolition of an abandoned building on the street, and in August CitiWorks presented preliminary plans for the redevelopment to the public.
