Police Investigate Armed Robbery at Neptune Motel

Neptune Police are investigating an armed robbery at a township motel Tuesday morning.

Police said they responded to a call at 9:32 am about a robbery at the Monmouth Motel on Route 66.

Lt. Drew LaFrance said the female victim, who is an employee at the motel, told police the suspect was a white or light skinned Hispanic male between the ages of 20-25, police said.

She described the suspect as being five foot six inches tall and said he was wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt and black pants, police said.

The woman said the robber knocked on the office door and when she reached the door he pulled out a handgun and forced his way in, police said.

The suspect robbed her of an unknown amount of cash. The money belonged to the motel, police said.

The victim told police that after the assailant removed the cash, he exited the office, got into a red pickup truck and headed eastbound on Route 66.

Police said the victim was assaulted during the robbery, sustaining a shoulder injury.
