2 Asbury Park Homes Damaged by Fire

No one was injured Tuesday when a car suddenly caught fire in a driveway between two homes at Summerfield and Comstock Avenues in Asbury Park.

The fire, which began around 6 a.m., is being investigated as suspicious.

Robert Abbott of the Asbury Park Fire Safety Bureau said that the car, a 1992 Buick Park Avenue, was completely destroyed. He added that although there was exterior damage to both homes, residents were able to return later in the day.

They were temporarily displaced, said Abbott, because they had no heat or electricity.

Police are following up on the incident.
