The Asbury Park City Council is scheduled to meet today (March 30) to introduce its municipal budget which includes a 39-cent tax rate increase.
City Manager Terry Reidy said the final budget, however, will not reflect such an increase.

Bradley Beach Budget May Include Tax Hike

Borough residents may see a 4.5 cent increase in the 2006 municipal tax rate, said Mayor Stephen Schueler Tuesday night. Council planned to hold a special budget workshop at press time yesterday to discuss final figures.

Ocean Township High School’s West Park Players rehearsed Tuesday night for tonight’s opening of “A Chorus Line.” The curtain will go up Thursday at 7 p.m. and Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. at the high school auditorium.

Neptune residents will see an increase of 4.7 cents per $100 of assessed valuation on the municipal tax rate under the budget proposed by the Township Committee.

Avon Tax Rate Hike Held to 4.9 Cents

The Avon Board of Commissioners agreed to defer school tax in the amount of $160,000 to avoid a 16.5 cent increase in the 2006 municipal tax rate.
With the deferment, commissioners were able to hold the increase in the municipal tax rate to 4.9 cents per $100 of assessed valuation.

Police Investigate Asbury Park Shooting

Police are continuing to investigate the shooting death of a 21-year-old Asbury Park man on DeWitt Avenue in Asbury Park Sunday night while officials grapple with the root of such violence.
