City Man Arrested After Threatening Suicide

An Asbury Park man was arrested by city police Monday after he threatened to kill himself.

Kevin Lamont Williams, 47, made the threats while inside his residence on Deal Lake Drive, Asbury Park Police Capt. Anthony Salerno said.

Williams wife called police at approximately 7:30 am Monday, and upon their arrival police found Williams to be in possession of a loaded handgun, Salerno said.

Det. Randall Hill, Sgt. Jeffrey White, officer Daniel Kowsaluk, Sgt. Derrick Parreott, and the Monmouth and Ocean County CERT Team responded to the call.

The incident ended without anyone being injured, as Williams surrended his weapon to police and was taken into custody.

Salerno said that during the time he made the threats Williams was distraught and under the influence of narcotics. He was taken to Jersey Shore University Medical Center for evaluation.

Williams was charged with aggravated assualt, making terroristic threats, possesion of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, possession of a controlled dangerous substance, and possession of drug paraphanelia.

On March 19 he was arrested in Bradley Beach and charged with possession of cocaine and heroin.
