A woman was shot to death early Wednesday morning at the Crystal Inn Motel on Route 35 in Neptune Township.
Police are conducting an ongoing investigation, but did not return calls for comment before press time.
This shooting follows two other area murders in Asbury Park in recent months, one of which was determined to be gang related.
The murder of 19-year-old Tylik Pugh in October, has not been declared gang related, although a suspect has been charged.
On Tuesday Monmouth County Prosecutor Luis A.Valentin announced that the Dec. 5 murder of Latyria Nealy was the result of a dispute between members of the Bloods gang.
Four people have been charged in that murder.
