The second seeded Neptune High School Boys basketball team advanced to the semifinals of the Shore Conference Tournament on Wednesday night, where the Fliers faced rival Christian Brothers Academy at the Ritacco Center in Toms River (the game ended too late for this edition.)

Neptune reached the semis by earning a first round bye and then beating Asbury Park 63-48 and knocking off Brick 64-55 in the quarterfinals.

The Fliers came into the game at 21-3 on the season, while CBA was 18-6 – beating Monmouth Regional 59-49 in the quarterfinals.

We have a strong rivalry with them, said Coach Ken ODonnell about Neptunes tradition against CBA.

ODonnell said although CBA has a number of losses, they have all come against good competition.

He said the keys to moving on in the tournament were to continue to play good defense, have balanced scoring, and keep plaCoaster Photos by Devin Peppler
