2 Arrested in Teen Shooting
By ELLEN CARROLL
Two Asbury Park teenagers were arrested Tuesday and charged with aggravated assault in connection with the shooting of another teen in the foot at First Avenue and Main Street in Asbury Park.
Police Chief Mark Kinmon said Jerrell Bell, 18, and Corey Gibson, 18, were charged with aggravated assault, possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose and unlawful possession of a weapon.
Bail for each was set at $150,000.
Kinmon said the shooting does not appear to be gang-related. He did say the three all knew each other. Police are also investigating whether a third suspect is involved.
Police responded to several calls about gunshots being fired at approximately 3 p.m. Tuesday, Kinmon said. The victim, who was shot in the left foot, was taken to Jersey Shore Medical Center where he was treated and released.
Police pursued the suspects, including Bell who was riding a bicycle. He was arrested after a short chase in the 900 block of Summerfield Avenue.
Gibson was identified by police and arrested at 7 p.m. on Washington Avenue.

Police sectioned off an area at First Avenue and Main Street in Asbury Park following a shooting Tuesday in the middle of the afternoon.
Asbury Park resident Doug Eschner, a member of the citys citizen patrol team, was waiting at the traffic light at the corner when the shooting started.
I heard boom boom and then saw a flash, he said. Then I saw two take off on bikes and I followed them in my truck.
Eschner said they were wearing white tee shirts and white do rags.
He said they split up and he followed one of the suspects on Bond Street and Emory and over to Summerfield.
He dropped his bike and started running and the police car cut him off, he said.
Police arrested Bell after he ran across Memorial Drive.
Kinmon said the detective bureau is investigating the shooting along with the Monmouth County Prosecutors Office. Anyone with information is asked to call the city police department at 774-1300.
