Ocean Township Teacher Receives 2007 Fellowship Award

In May 2007, Christine Fogler, Social Studies teacher at the Ocean Township Ocean Intermediate School, was honorably named the New Jersey recipient of the 2007 Horace MannAbraham Lincoln Fellowship Award.

As one of 51 recipients nationwide, Fogler represented the state of New Jersey at a five-day institute in Springfield, Illinois this past summer.

In addition to attending lectures, the Fellows were given a tour of the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum which contain historical documents and original records pertaining to Lincolns life and presidential term.

Fogler, a veteran teacher who has served Ocean Township students for 37 years, now teaches sixth-grade Social Studies exclusively. She said she hopes that the knowledge she gained as a participant in this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity will be of great benefit to the students of the district.
