The Summer Nature Walk, sponsored by the Ocean Township Environmental Commission, is scheduled for July 15 beginning at 9:30 a.m. at Joe Palaia Park.

    Look for paintings by Avon artist Jim Ferrier and Neptune artist Bob Herbert at Terner House Galleries in Ocean Township.

    The Terner House Galleries is hosting its second art exhibit July 15 from 2 to 4 p.m.

    Their works in watercolor or oil depict area scenes such as the Spring Lake Bridge, Sickles Farm and the Shark River.


Ferrier and Herbert are members of The Plein Air Painters of the Jersey Shore. The group of artists meet every week at a new location to share their visions of Central Jersey coastal areas.

Both artists have been in juried shows on the state and national levels, winning numerous awards.

The gallery is adjacent to the Ocean Township Library on Deal Road.

Admission to the exhibit is free.

    The Friends of the Ocean Township Library will hold a series of “Book Sale Tuesdays” July 17, July 24, July 31, Aug 7 and Aug 14.

    It will give readers a chance to stock on summer reading material.

    Donations of books have continued to pour in and, as a result, we have thousands of hard and softcover books for sale including many children’s books.

    Nearly all books are priced at $1 or less. Sale hours are 9 am- 9 pm at 701 Deal Road, Ocean.

The Knights of Columbus, Neptune City is holding an open to the public breakfast buffet Sun., July 22 from 9 a.m. to noon.

The menu includes pancakes, scrambled eggs, French toast, home fries, bacon, sausage, orange juice, fruit cocktail and coffee.

Tickets for adults are $6 and for children $5.

    The Bradley Beach Invitational Lifeguard Tournament is scheduled for July 23 at 6 p.m. at the north end beach.

    The Monmouth/Ocean chapter of the New Jersey Association of Women Business Owners will host a dinner networking meeting from 6 to 9 p.m. July 26 at Freehold Gardens in Freehold Township.

    Lisa ODonnell Fahoury will present the Top 10 Marketing Mistakes.

    Lets Get Knitting, a program for those who enjoy knitting and crocheting, will be held at the Ocean Township branch of the county library at 701Deal Rd., Ocean Township Aug. 6 at 7 p.m.

    Tuesdays Children, a non-profit organization is seeking mentors to work in the Middletown area for children who lost a parent in 9/11.

    The program pairs children of 9/11 victims ages 6-16, with specially-trained adult role models who support each young persons emotional and developmental needs and help them build the confidence, skills and resources they need to meet their potential.

Mentors must be 18 years of age and agree to a one-year commitment.

    The Deal Historical Society hosts special guest, Sean McHugh, local archeologist, in a program about his work on several important New Jerset digs Aug. 13.

    Included among others, is the current dig in Bordentown at the former Bonaparte estate.

    The 5th Annual Ocean Grove Boardwalk Art Show will be on Saturday, July 28 from 9am-4pm on the boardwalk.

    74 artists will be displaying and selling their work. There will be oils, pastels, acrylics, photographs, sculptures, collages, floor cloths and more.

    The juried show is sponsored by the Ocean Grove Area Chamber of Commerce and will take place rain or shine, with free admission.
