Recreation volunteers are needed in Bradley Beach. The recreation board, which usually has seven members and two alternates is now down to five members and no alternates.

A new vacancy recently occurred when Julie Schreck left the board to join the borough council.

She made a plea at this weeks meeting for new members to join the board.

The meeting is being held Wed., July 25 at 7 p.m. at the Fire House.

    The Asbury United Methodist Church, 61 Atlantic Ave. in Long Branch, is holding a summer yard sale July 28 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

    Fifteen tables filled with great stuff at great prices. Also large items such as furniture and a gas stove.


    Rain date is Aug. 4.

    A fund-raising dinner is being held at the Asbury United Methodist Church, 61 Atlantic Ave., Long Branch on Aug, 14 at 6 p.m.

    Dinner will be a salad with a half breast of chicken, potato salad, ear of corn, rolls and butter, coffee or tea, iced tea and dessert.

    A great summer feast!

    $7 for adults, $4.50 for children.

    The Asbury Park Historical Society is hosting an Art on the Boardwalk show Sun., Aug. 19 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

    The show will be held on the boardwalk between Sunset and Fifth Avenues, south of Convention Hall.

    The show is open to all fine art participants. No crafts.

    The $25 entry fee for a 10 foot by 12 foot space should be sent to the society at P. O Box 543, Asbury Park, NJ 07712.

    The event will feature Dave’s special beer and burger menu every in the garden

    The football coaches at Neptune High School will host a free football clinic for children ages 7-14 at Loffredo Field (Pop Warner Complex) on West Bangs Avenue on July 23-25.

    The camp, which will run from 6-8 p.m. each evening, is free to all Neptune residents.

    After hearing concerns from residents at the last several Township Committee meetings regarding streetlights that were not working properly, Mayor James Manning Jr. met with representatives of Jersey Central Power and Light recently.

    Manning said that residents can now fill out an online form to contact JCP&L about a streetlight that is malfunctioning.

    Reports can be made for a light not working, staying on all day, flickering, or any other problem.

    The link to report a problem is available through the townships website at www.neptunetownship.org on the main page.

    Residents can also call the JCP&L customer service center at 1-800-662-3115.

    The 5th annual Boardwalk Art Show in Ocean Grove is scheduled for July 28 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. rain or shine. The show features 74 artists displaying and selling their work. For more information call 774-1391.
