The Question is . . .

What are your thoughts on what happened to Joe Torre ?

Paul Cochran, OceanAnn Fornino, Neptune

“I give Joe a lot of credit for exiting with dignity and respect; keeping his head held high after many years of a very successful tenure with the New York Yankees

If he wants to manage again Im sure any organization would snap him up.”

“Oh, I love Joe Torre and I think what they did to him is very disgraceful.

Im a Met fan, tried and true.

But I always liked Joe. I think hes a gentleman and I dont think he was treated fairly.”

Jean St. James, Bradley BeachBarry Wingo, Asbury Park

“I love him! And I followed him since 1940. And hes one of my heroes.

I think hes right in not taking the money.

I think the Yankees will miss him, and hell miss the Yankees.”

“I think hes a legend, I think hes going to be missed. I think they should have met his terms and kept him.

He has a lot to offer to the Yankees.

I think its going to effect the morale of some players. Im waiting to see what Jeter has to say.

Hell be missed.”

Yavor Shaumanov, Bradley BeachDonna Matthews, Bradley Beach

“As for Joe torre, I love the man, but I think it was time for a change.

I dont necessarily agree with ownership and their style, but it had to happen.

I dont like the way it went down. They shouldnt have left him hanging in the wind. They should have talked to him right away.”

“I do like Joe Torre, but I think he needed an offer that showed some respect. After 12 seasons, he deserved that.

They didnt get into the series but I know where hes coming from.

Nobodys going to take less money.”

Brenda & Mike Connolly, Bradley Beach

Brenda: “He had a great run with the Yankees. Everything good must come to an end. Thats it. I understand why hes leaving and I understand why they want him to go.”

Mike: “I think that Joe Torre was so popular and loved by so many people, the Yankees didnt want to fire him so they made him an offer they thought hed probably refuse.”

Don & Beth Williscroft, Bradley Beach

“We think Joe should have taken the offer, stayed one year and set it up for Don Mattingly.

It would have been a smoother transition.”

Jennifer Chumard & Nathan Efferson, Queens, NY

“He was there 12 years. And he took his team to the playoffs 12 times! For any other city he would be a God.

I think he stood up for himself. He flew down to Florida to see them face to face.

The Yankees made a mistake, they expect too much.

Theyre just never satisfied. No matter how well they do.”

Rick Weber & Peter Schwartz, Manhattan

“Were glad hes moving. We think he made the right decision.

If management cant make the decision or theyre not 100% then he should go.

Hes not feeling the love. Joe Torre said, if you dont love me – Im out of here.

We like that.”
