Avon School Budget Has Slight Increase

The Avon Board of Education introduced its 2008/2009 budget at a special meeting March 5 which will include an estimated 1.2 cent increase on the school tax rate.
According to Board Administrator Amy Lerner, the board attended a meeting with county officials, but because of a recent revaluation in the borough, firm figures were not released.
The total budget is $3,817,837.
The total general fund is $3,346,790 with a debt service fund of $426,860 and a special revenue fund which is $44,187.
The tentative budget was submitted to the County Superintendent of Schools for approval.
The budget features a debt service tax levy of $250,696. The amount to be raised by taxes is $3,221,310.
The public hearing on the budget is set for March 19.
