An Ocean Township girl was honored recently by the West Point Society for her leadership and contributions to her school and community.

Dianes guidance counselor Rose Griffin was not surprised she was chosen for the award.

I think she is the perfect candidate, shes well rounded. Shes respected by the kids and faculty they really rally around her and I think thats great.

Diane said when she was called down to the guidance office she became concerned, because it was not Griffin, her own counselor, calling for her.

I was scared, I thought I was in trouble, she said.

Dianes mother Anne said both parents are very proud.

I was pretty speechless we are so proud of her, she said. She was just inducted into the National Honor Society,
