New Principal at Pope John XXIII Regional School

Sister Charlene SchmittPope John XXIII Regional Catholic School of Ocean Township will have a new principal starting next month,

Sister Charlene Schmitt, a member of the Sisters of St. Joseph, has been appointed to serve in the position. She comes to the school from the Archdiocese of Newark, where she has served as the principal of St. Andrew School, Bayonne since 1987.

Sister Charlene holds an undergraduate degree from Chestnut Hill College and a master’s degree from Villanova University.

She has served as the Deanery Chairperson/Secretary for the Archdiocese of Newark-Bayonne Deanery. She has served as a member of the Board of Trustees for the Bayonne Educational Foundation and is a past member of the Advisory Board for Marist High School. Sister Charlene has taught in a variety of religious education programs and has served as a Eucharistic Minister. She has experience with government programs and grant writing.

Throughout her career, Sister Charlene has been an advocate for the achievement of her students and teachers.

Pope John XXIII Regional School offers full day classes for Pre-K 3-year-olds through Grade 8. The school is located in a quiet residential area of Ocean Township.
