Two members of the Neptune City Police Department were promoted this week at the Borough Council meeting.
Louis Trocchio was promoted from sergeant to lieutenant and James Isacson was promoted from police officer to sergeant.
Council also issued proclamations to School Superintendent Robert Shafer, who is retiring from the Neptune City School district after 40 years, and Bill Ryan who retired as president from the Neptune City/Bradley Beach Little League.
Mayor Thomas Arnone also read a proclamation honoring former mayor Holmes Adams and his wife Mildred on 65 years of marriage.
In other business council approved $33,000 for the purchase of a new leaf machine.
Borough Administrator Joel Popkin said the base bid, opened Wednesday morning, was $28,000.
But it depends what features they want to add, he said.
The county visited the town to approve the removal of one tree from East End Avenue where new curbs and sidewalks are being installed.
We were trying to see what trees we could save, Arnone said.
Arnone said three drafts of appraisals for businesses in the redevelopment zone have been received by the borough.
Details will not be released until the appraisals are finalized.
We will be meeting with the property owners soon, he said.
Arnone also acknowledged Bradley Beach Mayor Stephen Schueler who did not run for re-election this year.
His last meeting was Tuesday night.
He was dedicated to the town and turned Bradley Beach into a fine community.
