Open Space Projects Win Recognition

Three towns in the area have been recognized for their open space grant projects by the Board of Chosen Freeholders.

Bradley Beach was recognized for its improvements to Main Street Park and Lake Terrace Park.

Freeholders cited the expanded facilities at Main Street Park for supporting active recreation programs and Lake Terrace Park for its new popular playground.

The Borough of Tinton Falls was recognized for its construction of the Sycamore Avenue Soccer Complex, which includes six new soccer fields, a playground and concession/restroom facilities, which were partially funded by a developers agreement negotiated by the borough.

Neptune City was recognized for its improvements to Adams Field Park. Improvements included a new playground, paved walking path, irrigated ball fields, accessible restrooms and reconstructed court area.

This program helps towns preserve open space and acquire and improve parkland by sharing the costs with the county, said Freeholder Director Lillian G. Burry.
