In Bradley Beach: Total of 5 File for 2 Council Seats
By JOANNE L. PAPAIANNI
Five Bradley Beach residents, including the two incumbents, have filed to run for two Boorugh Council seats in the upcoming November election.
The two seats are both unexpired terms and will run until May of 2010.
Two incumbents Norman Goldfarb and George Bachar who were appointed in July will face two former council members Salvatore Galassetti and Benjamin Waters and newcomer Harold Cotler.
Cotler is running for the first time because, he said, “I think I have the capabilities to manage the challenges that Bradley Beach faces.”
Cotler cited maximizing borough services without increasing taxes.
He also said he would like to improve Main Street and maintain the quality of services for recreation and senior citizens.
“What I’d like to do is build consensus and find a way to distribute tax papers dollars in a way everybody is happy,” Cotler said.
Cotler and his wife Beth have lived in Bradley Beach for 22 years with their three children, Samantha, Harrison and Brett.
He is a doctor of osteopothy with an office in Wall Township.
He is a member of the First Aid Squad and has been a supporter of the borough’s annual 5K race in August.
