Parades, Parties Planned For This Spooky Season

Mattison Park restaurant and martini lounge in the landmark Meistrich building in Asbury Park and Paranormal Books, Cookman Avenue are hosting the first ever Halloween block party Oct. 31.

The party includes a costume contest with cash and prizes totaling more than $5,000.
Dust off those wigs and over-the-top costumes; it’s time to celebrate, says coordinator Aaron Coleman. Gates open at 6 p.m. and the main stage show begins at 7 p.m.

Neptune to Auction Off Senior Center

The Neptune Senior Center will be auctioned off to fund renovations to a new, larger center under an ordinance adopted by the Township Committee Monday night.
The auction is expected to be held in the spring.

Pets are now being abandoned in large numbers due to the bad economy and animal advocates are urging people to think first before adopting a pet and plan for their future.
Animals abandoned due to home foreclosures or people no longer wanting their pets or being able to care for them is becoming a big problem, said Asbury Park’s Wonder Bar manager Debbie DeLisa – a pet advocate.
