Construction Planned at Francis Asbury Manor Put on Hold

Decision driven by financial markets

Construction of a new facility at the Francis Asbury Manor site in Ocean Grove has been put on hold.
Sparked by recent national and global financial downturns, officials at Francis Asbury Manor in Ocean Grove said the construction of a new residential facility to replace the current one has been put on hold.

In July, President James C. Batten met with residents, families of residents, and staff at Francis Asbury Manor to announce the necessity to cease operations during the anticipated demolition and construction at the Stockton Avenue senior community. Among the information, questions and concerns presented at the meetings, the state of the economy and its affect on the upcoming plans ranked above all others.

At that time Batten said that the management and the board of director’s Executive Committee would continue to closely monitor and evaluate fiscal conditions during the 18-month period prior to shut down.

Just recently Batten announced the Francis Asbury Manor construction period, formerly set from March 2010 to the fall of 2011, has been deferred. Although, a date has not been set for restarting the project, the organization pledged to notify all persons concerned at least one year prior to resumption.

Meanwhile, the organization will continue to get approvals for the project to avoid further delays, once the fiscal conditions mandate moving ahead. In lieu of these developments admissions at Francis Asbury Manor have re-opened for residential and assisted living, respite and hospice services.
