Neptune Official to Seek Assembly Nomination

Randy BishopRandy Bishop, a former Neptune mayor and currently a Neptune Township Committeeman, said he will seek the Democratic nomination for an 11th district Assembly seat.

“During these tough economic times, we can no longer bicker or just place blame,” he said. “There is a need for leadership which can create solutions encompassing many diverse needs. My experience in Neptune and throughout my career prove that I can and will stand up for the citizens of the 11th district. It is time for solutions, not politics, for accountability, not excuses.”

Bishop is currently forming an exploratory committee to solicit support for his candidacy. Township Committeeman Jim Manning Jr. will chair the committee.

“I am pleased to support Randy,” Manning said. “Over the years he has shown me, the citizens of Neptune, as well as county and state officials that he has the ability to work with all levels of government and has always given 100 percent as mayor and township committeeman. Randy has demonstrated the leadership we need to fight for and represent all the citizens of the 11th district.”

The seats are currently held by Republicans Mary Pat Angelini and Dave Rible.

The county Democratic Convention is scheduled to be held in mid-March.
