Unable to garner the necessary four votes for passage, a $1 million bond ordinance for a road repair program in Tinton Falls was defeated Tuesday night in a 3-2 vote.

The road program, which was designed to repair roads on several streets throughout the borough including the driveway at Swimming River School, was voted down by Councilmen Paul Ford and Michael Skudera, who both said they didn’t feel it was the proper economic environment to be bonding for this type of project. Bond ordinances, which authorize the borrowing of public funds, require a majority of two thirds of the council for approval.
