City Considers Allowing Dogs on Boardwalk Off Season

Asbury Park officials are considering allowing dogs on the boardwalk in the off season, much the same as is done in neighboring Ocean Grove.

Currently dogs are not allowed on the boardwalk at any point during the year. Though many city dog owners were hoping their dogs could walk the boardwalk during off peak hours in the summer, some dog advocates see this is a step in the right direction.

“I think we’re happy with this,” said Jim Modica, owner of Asbury Bark on Cookman Avenue. “It shows they’re willing to work with us and it makes sense because now we have the same policy as Ocean Grove.”
