Neptune Considers Tightening Use of Special Events Permits

By DON STINE
Neptune may be cracking down on issuing special events permits since there seems to be some residents that are abusing them.

At Monday’s Township Committee meeting, Committeeman Randy Bishop said it has come to his attention that a resident is holding a flea market on his private property using a special events permit.

The special event permit allows the holder to have unlimited events from June through October. Garage and yard sales also require a permit but they are limited to two a year and the hours of operation are limited.

“There should be no way to get around these (limited) permits,” Bishop said.
