Bradley Beach officials have now said they will probably not ban smoking east of Ocean Avenue as was originally considered.
Instead, the Borough Council is looking at smoking areas designated along the beachfront after residents and council members alike said they had second thoughts about implementing a total ban.
The total ban east of Ocean Avenue was proposed at council’s August 11 meeting after presentations by borough youngsters.
At Tuesday’s council meeting, however, residents broke out in a chorus of “God Bless America” when Councilman Gary Engelstad stood by a total ban.

Were they actually local residents?
For argument’s sake, let’s say they were. How different is that than setting up and sending in the little kiddies to do the adult’s dirty work and pull heartstrings? The anti-smokers are notorious for that and the imposition of outside influence.
Nevertheless, who but Bradley Beach area residents would really care to take time out to attend such a small local proceeding?
