The New Jersey Hall of Fame induction ceremony for the class of 2016 was held at the Paramount Theatre in Asbury Park on May 7.

Celebrities descended on the city for the event which honored author Carol Higgins Clark and news anchor Connie Chung, who arrived with husband television personality Maury Povich. Both were honored in the arts and letters category.

For enterprise the honor went to Businessman Alfred Koeppe and founder of NY Waterway, Arthur Imperatore, Sr.

In the performing arts category famed singer, composer and actress Connie Francis was added to the hall along with television personality Kelly Ripa, actor Ray Liotta, pop star Tommy James of the Shondells and rapper Wyclef Jean of the Fugees.

For public service, spiritual teacher and activist Peace Pilgrim was inducted with United States Army officer General Philip Kearny, who has a town in Hudson County named after him.

Sports stars inducted included soccer player Caril Lloyd, former president and general manager of the WNBA New York Liberty, Carol Blazejowski, heavyweight boxer Chuck Wepner, who hails from Bayonne and NFL star athlete and Pro-bowler Rosie Grier.
