Pemberton Jr. will be holding their annual fund-raiser to benefit the James E. Pemberton Jr. Memorial Scholarship Fund Aug. 30.<br />
<p>Pemberton was a lifelong resident of Ocean Township. He was a 1999 graduate of the Ocean Township High School where he played defensive end for the Ocean Township Spartans football team.<br />
<p>He was also an active member of the Wanamassa Fire Company and First-Aid Squad, serving as 2nd Assistant Fire Chief at the time of his death at the age of 26 in 2006.<span id="more-6568"></span></p>

The Neptune Township Committee this week unanimously adopted an ordinance that regulates special event permits.<br />
<p>The ordinance defines a special event as a commercial enterprise that requires a mercantile license, does not run more than two weeks in length and &#8220;serves the public purpose of furthering the commercial and mercantile growth and stability and/or aesthetics of the Township at large.&#8221;<br />
<p>The ordinance also applied a $100 charge for each permit issued, and limits permits to two per applicant in any calendar year, with neither event occurring within 30 days of the other.<span id="more-6479"></span></p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[	<p>A benefit for Asbury Park musician and Vietnam veteran Billy Lilley is scheduled for Paul&#8217;s Tavern in Lake Como Sun., July 26.<br />
<p>Lilley, who is a well known harmonica player in the shore area, has liver cancer. He is currently on the liver donor transplant list and it is anticipated that the transplant will be within six months.<br />
<p>The 57-year-old and his wife, Theresa of 35 years, have been  residents of Asbury Park for 23 years. They are founding members of the Jersey Shore Jazz Blues Foundation and have dedicated many years to  working to build a better community through non-profits at the shore such as:  Jersey Shore Jazz and Blues Foundation and <span class="caps">ABATE</span>, a non-partisan legislative organization that represents the interests of the over 165,000 registered motorcyclists in New Jersey.<span id="more-6198"></span></p>
