Asbury Park is preparing for the 82nd Annual Easter Pageant Parade on Sun., April 16, in the Paramount Theater from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
Bring out your most colorful outfits, brightest smiles, and elaborately flowered bonnets to help the city make the 82nd Easter Pageant and Parade another great event. The pageant begins at 1 p.m. and the city is counting on clear weather and a great turn out to celebrate this historic event.
The Pageant competition begins with the historic boardwalk procession. Judges will choose best-dressed men, women, boys, girls, families, and unusual bonnets to participate in the final competitions.
The Pageant judges are City Council members Jesse Kendle, Yvonne Clayton, and Eileen Chapman, former Mayor Edward Johnson, and retired Asbury Park Board of Education employee Jessie Ricks.
“This event is a beloved part of Asbury Park’s history, and one of our longest-running events,” Councilman Jesse Kendle said. “The bright dresses and beautiful bonnets are how you know winter is over, and it’s springtime in the city.”
Mobile Music is providing Easter music for the pageant, the décor is provided by the Rose of Sharon, and the winners will take home beautiful trophies by CSC Trophies-Awards and Gifts. Heather Schultz of Interfaith Neighbors will take center stage as our Easter Bunny.
Gifts and prizes for lucky pageant winners range from trophies to gift certificates. For additional information call event organizers Cassandra Dickerson and Leesha Floyd at 732-502-5755.
