Bradley Beach officials said good bye to longtime Borough Clerk Mary Ann Solinski, who retired this week after serving the borough for 26 years.

“There’s been one voice, one steady hand for 26 years,” said Mayor Gary Engelstad. “It’s been an honor and a pleasure working with you. She has such love and compassion for our town and always wanted it to be done right.”

Solinski was originally hired under former Mayor Leonard Riley during the commission form of government.

“I want to thank the current governing body and all the former administrations, for giving me the opportunity to serve the borough of Bradley Beach and most importantly the residents,” Solinski said. “I truly love this town and I will miss you but I will be around.”

Council members thanked Solinski for her service and friendship. Councilman Norman Goldfarb said he has known her for the past 12 years and that she is a “kind, thoughtful, level headed person” and that her “main goal is to serve the people of Bradley Beach.”

“She set the standard for Municipal Clerks in Bradley Beach,” said Councilman Thomas Volante who has known Solinski for 26 years since he was a police officer in the borough. “The transition for taking over is going to be very, very smooth because of Mary Ann’s work.”

“She’s been through a lot here,” said Councilman Sal Galassetti who expressed that he hopes she travels during her retirement. “A change of government, three major storms. Her dedication was always to Bradley Beach. She’s family.”

Kelly Barrett, who has been training with Solinski, will take over as Municipal Clerk at the next council meeting.
