Neptune Welcomes 3 New Police Officers

Three new Neptune police officers were sworn in at this week’s Township Committee meeting, brings the department’s work force back to its full compliment of 74 officers.

Christopher Monahan, Angel Marerro, and Christopher Wilson are the new officers and they replace other police officers who are retiring.

“Each of the proposed officers display multiple strengths and values that make them the right candidates for Neptune. They demonstrate community involvement, understanding of the communities within Neptune, strong interpersonal skills, and they come well prepared for police work,” Deputy Police Chief James Hunt said.

Monahan currently works for Neptune as a special law enforcement officer and he has a Bachelors Degree in Criminal Justice from Monmouth University. He graduated from the Monmouth County Police Academy in 2013 and serves locally as a youth basketball official.

Marerro is a lifelong Neptune resident and holds a Bachelors Degree in Criminal Justice from New Jersey City University. He is a graduate of the Monmouth County Police Academy and has served as a special officer in Avon, a dispatcher in Shrewsbury, and a Class II officer and dispatcher with the Rumson police department.

Wilson has two Bachelor Degrees from Monmouth University, one in education and one in biology. He is a graduate of the Monmouth County Police Academy and is a certified lifeguard and beach safety supervisor. He was an advanced placement teacher in the Middletown school district and a special officer with the Belmar police department.
