River Concert is Benefit for Shark River Hills

NEPTUNE TOWNSHIP – Tickets are still available for River Concert 2013, a benefit for Shark River Hills victims of Superstorm Sandy, featuring Nicole Atkins, Steve Forbert and others.

The concert, the first such event in the Shark River Hills section of Neptune, is scheduled for Sat., June 1 beginning at noon and running until 8 p.m. at Riverside Park.

As of late last week, 500 tickets had been sold, with another 500 still available, said Vito Gadaleta, a member of the concert committee.

Tickets are $25 for those 13 and older and $10 for those 6 to 12. They are available from committee members, riverconcert2013tickets@gmail.com, or www.brownpapertickets.com.

Beside Atkins and Forbert, performers include the Shark River Hillbillies, Lone Ramblers, Glycerin Queens and Lemon Juice. Performers are donating their time.

The Shark River Hills section was hard hit by Superstorm Sandy and many residents are still not back in their homes seven months later. The Neptune Township Marina building also was destroyed in the storm. Five houses in the area were destroyed and 90 suffered severe damage. Several boats from the river ended up on lawns blocks away and most residents were without power for 11 days.
