On Friday May 16 at 7:30 p.m., celebrate spring with the vibrant colors, sights and sounds of Spain, with New Jersey’s premier Spanish Dance and Flamenco company, the widely-acclaimed Alborada Spanish Dance Theatre at the Jersey Shore Arts Center, located at 66 South Main Street, Ocean Grove.

This performance features world-renowned flamenco guitarist Arturo Martinez with the soloists and ensemble dancers of Alborada and singer Gisele Assi. A local artist, Teresa Rodriguez, who hails from Ocean, and is a soloist with the company, dances the dramatic “Solea” (an antique Flamenco dance) with the passion and soul that is deep within this genre. Teresa has become an audience favorite, and will be part of several other dances, one of which is the ensemble dance, with music from Carmen, entitled the “Aragonaise.”
The audience will also see the premiere of Eva Conti Alegria’s stunning classical dance performed with the traditional bata de cola – dress with the long ruffled train), the beauty of another Spanish classical dance with Claudia Morena’s “Andalucia” and the joyful yet fiery “Tangos Moriscos” – an ensemble flamenco dance choreographed with a Middle Eastern flair by Gisele Assi and much more. And announcing a new & exciting flamenco dancer straight from Venezuela and Spain premiering with Alborada at this performance – Cristina de Jose
