Susan Schroeder Clark is scheduled to become the acting municipal judge in Tinton Falls.

She will replace Richard B. Thompson, who has been suspended without pay pending an investigation. Clark will serve in the post until Thompson returns or a permanent successor is appointed.

Superior Court Judge Lisa P. Thornton suspended Thompson, who has been the municipal judge in Tinton Falls, Bradley Beach, Neptune City and six other Monmouth County towns.

The suspension order said that Thompson would be investigated by the state’s Advisory Committee on Judicial Conduct for possible violations involving the “integrity and independence” of the judiciary.

Thompson was paid $217,400 as a municipal judge last year. In contrast, the governor of New Jersey is paid $175,000 a year.

In her order, Thornton wrote that Thompson “may have violated the Code of Judicial Conduct by failing to follow the statutes, policies, and procedures for sentencing penalties and fines, in violation of Canons 1 and 2 of the Code of Judicial Conduct.”

The borough announced that a portion of Wayside Road will be closed for approximately 48 hours beginning at 7 a.m. Tuesday. while construction work is done. The affected area is between Shafto Road and Pinebrook Road. The Route 18 off-ramps onto Wayside Road north at Exit 15A will also be closed. Detour routes will be posted. Commuters are encouraged to use an alternate route or leave enough time to navigate the detour routes.

Tinton Falls Business Administrator Michael Muscillo will conduct hearings on 2016 budget proposals as presented by governmental departments and division heads. The hearings will take place in the second floor conference room at the municipal complex off Tinton Avenue beginning at 9 a.m. on Mon., Nov. 23, Tue., Nov. 24 and if necessary, Wed., Nov. 25.

Though the hearings are open to the public, officials do not anticipate open discussions on the budgets during the presentations.
