BRADLEY BEACH – Bradley Beach officials plan to replace the beachfront gazebo destroyed by Superstorm Sandy with a new permanent one, although a temporary gazebo will be in place over most of the summer.
The permanent replacement gazebo will not be delivered until after the summer is over and its design is still under review.
The gazebo, at the intersection of Ocean and Fifth Avenues, is the site of concerts, weddings, plays and other events.
The Borough Council voted this week to pay $7,500 to have a temporary 12- by 20-foot temporary gazebo installed over the summer at the site. The temporary gazebo will then be moved to another borough park once the permanent gazebo is ready to go up.
The council originally has plans to replace its former large wooden gazebo with a steel structure but then changed the plan to stick with another wooden structure.
It will be another 12 weeks before the new, permanent gazebo is delivered.
