Henry V. Vaccaro Sr., Ocean Township – First and foremost be honest with the public and keep them informed. They can handle bad news, but what they can’t handle is deceit. The public can become your biggest ally, if you can only gain their trust.
Wayra Delvalle, Long Branch – Don’t follow in Obama footsteps – he’s done enough damage to our healthcare system. – I do like what I see in Asbury – it’s cleaner and there’s less prostitution on the street corners.
Marilyn Schlossbach, Asbury Park – Look closely at where we really are as a community and understand that we have much to do. The business community and their customers cannot continue to foot the bill for our forward movement. Fear and greed keep us always one step ahead and two steps back. Having a positive communication with who we really are is key!
Raymond Koeppel, Ocean Grove – Cut out the metered parking. I think that’s a detriment to business. You want people to come and you chase them away. Everything else is nice. Businesses are starting to take off. The only negative that I see is the parking.
Adam Lichtman & Tasha Gulywasz, Dover – We come here often. We have friends who live in the area. We come to concerts. We like the musical history; the sites. Keep it going, but don’t make it too hoity-toity. Keep it weird. That’s the lure of Asbury Park. Where we come from everything is a chain. Here you have individual restaurants and businesses. We like that.
Diane Marrucca. Jimmy’s – I would like to see more police protection over by my restaurant. I’m a women alone in business and would like to see more police presence. I’d like to see more activities for the kids in school. After school programs. Summer programs, keep the kids busy. And I hope they get along and work together for the betterment of Asbury Park.
Don McLain, Asbury Park – I would tell them to patrol the streets more at night. I think they are going to do a good job. There’s good people in there.
Steve Sovey, West Long Branch, Danielle Lieberman, South Amboy & Sonia Lucas, Sayreville – We’re not from Asbury, but we love it here. Cookman, Ocean Avenue. They look good and we think things are getting better. We come here all the time – every weekend. The new council should just continue to do what the old council did. And keep developing.
Linda & Randy Tremblay, Asbury Park – We think the taxes are really high when you’re trying to bring back the neighborhoods. That needs to be addressed. And the crime. Neighborhood watch and those types of programs should be increased. The horses, the bikes, police on foot; we need more police presence in the community. We need a surfing and fishing area with free parking on the beach. That’s what 8th Ave represents now.
Ken Tyburski, Asbury Park – Keep an open mind. Try to keep a lid on property taxes or try to lower them.
