At 11 a.m. on that day township officials, volunteers and residents will gather to officially rename Riverside Park as Volunteer Park. In August the Township Committee passed a resolution approving the name change.

At the ceremony a new sign will be unveiled, which has been donated to the park through donations from residents.

Also, at that time, the winners of two contests will unveil two bronze plaques which will both thank the volunteers and memorialize the date of the storm itself. The plaques are also being donated via donations from local residents.

The public is invited to attend the ceremony at Volunteer Park, opposite the Municipal Marina on S. Riverside Drive.

For further information, or to make a donation to cover the costs of the sign and memorials, contact the Shark River Hills Property Owners Association via email, shrpoa1@optonline.net or call 732-775-4822.
