“My most memorable Thanksgiving was the last time my mother and father tried to deep fry a whole turkey.
“It took all day. The house almost burned down…”

Peggy Weaver, Asbury Park – The family stays in touch all year long. On Thanksgiving we all get together at my daughters house – Christmas, too.
We have a nice time.
My daughter, grandkids and great grandkids.
Sara Accardo, Avon – We’ve had everything Thanksgiving at my house in Avon since the day I was born.
And it’s been at my hosue every year.
We have family and friends.
It’s like an open door at my house.
A big Italian family in and out all day.
Linda Bauer, Ocean Grove – In 2002, our first Thanksgiving in Ocean Grove.
We had an assortment of family and friends who would have been alone otherwise.
We had an eclectic group.
We had a great time.
Andi Brindley, Ocean Grov – I think the most memorable Thanksgiving had to be the first one where I had my own grandchildren over for dinner.
My sons and I all cooked together.
It was nice family time.
Everybody pitched in.
Janeen Daniels, Asbury Park – My most memorable Thanksgiving was 2008. That was the last Thanksgiving I spent with my baby sister Starr.
She passed away in February of 2009.
It was a fun time.
Lisa Mansfield, Wall – It was my first Thanksgiving with the in-laws. We were having a great time and just as my mother-in-law went to put the turkey on the table, a fight broke out.
My husband went home and had a can of chicken noodle soup.
I stayed and had a wonderful time with my new in-laws.
We still laugh about it 30 years later.
Anthony Notte, Tinton Falls – My most memorable Thanksgiving was the last time my mother and father tried to deep fry a whole turkey.
It took all day. The house almost burned down, but we did it and it was delicious.
From then on we almost always have fried turkey.
It’s bigger, more tender and much more delicious.
Helen Pruzan Ocean Grove – I was a vegetarian for 10 years. I decided I wasn’t going to be a vegetarian anymore – so I made this outrageous organic feast – with turkey!
Joseph Raines Sr, Asbury Park & Amari Jones, Jackso – Joseph: Last year I had my whole family with me.
Most of the time it’s hard to get everyone together.
We were at the house in Asbury, big get together.
Amari: I was there at my grandfathers with everyone else.
Very good memory.
Greg Walker, Asbury Park – I think the most memorable was the first one we hosted with my wife’s family; four generations.
Her grandmother, father, our siblings and kids.
We had just moved in.
We had no furniture, but we had a great time.
Matt Johnson w/Lola, Ocean – It was last year with lola.
Our first thanksgiving with Lola, she was 18 months.
We went to my parents house in Bradley Beach.
The whole Johnson clan was there.
Michael Roberts, Danny’s – Three years ago, when I was at my grandparents.
My grandma dropped the turkey. We had to go out and buy a pre-cooked one.
We still laugh about it.
