Pat & Suzie Walter, Bradley Beach We think he’s doing a marvelous job. He’s the right pope for the right time. He’s making people reassess what’s important in life by taking the church back to core values. He’s a great example and we all should follow. Merry Christmas.
Julio & Joanne Bravo w/Ian & Julio, Jr., Ocean We agree with him. We should even things out a little bit, but some people don’t want to work. They want the government to give them money.
Hillary Brudner, Wayside I think we should get down to basics and remember family. We could all do with less. We forget how much we have, and how fortunate we are.
Tom Deseno, Asbury Park He’s absolutely wrong. I hate to say it because I love him. Materialistic things especially in this country, keep the country moving. And it makes us knowledgeable, We learn, if you work hard, rich people deserve to be rich. If you don’t work hard, you deserve to be poor. By the way, we need an elevator in my church and we’re not getting it. Is that materialistic, an elevator?
Joel Fleming, Allenhurst & Ellie Milazzo, Interlaken Ellie: The pope’s timing is a little off. All of our merchants wait for this time of year to make a large percentage of their business. Joel: I think his first priority is allowing priests to marry. We’re running out of priests. Happy holidays.
Louise Kizima, Wayside He seems to be definitely in touch with the poverty stricken in this world. He’s devoted his life to the poor. There is something that all of us can learn from what he is teaching, including myself.
Bob McMahon, Wanamassa I don’t see anything wrong with that advice. I think all people have their Gods. Some people’s Gods are money, sports or fame. What the pope is trying to say, is, that your God should be God.
Ralph, Ralph Jr. & Deshon Parkman, Neptune We don’t think you should criticize someone who makes money. They should be able to spend it the anyway they want. They worked for it. If people want something, they should get a job, or go to school, something. People should better themselves.
Maureen Rott, Eatontown I think people should live in a less commercialized environment. Especially this time of year, we all over do it. We should keep things in perspective. I think that’s the way we ought to be.
Drew Ruscil, Asbury Park I think he’s a good man. I think he’s on the right track. I think we’ve needed a pope like this for a long time.
Jeff Schneider, Ocean I think it’s a healthy thing. He’s living by the example of St. Francis, the name he chose. He’s shunning the Pope mobile and his luxury apartment. He’s living and leading by example. We’re all materialistic to some degree, but that can’t be your main focus.
Jim Simonelli, Eatontown Isn’t family and relationships – the people things – fellow man – aren’t they all more important than material things. I’d rather spend 3 hours with my kids and grandkids then buy a car or a new coat. Those things are not important.
