Officials from Bradley Beach and the federal Army Corps of Engineers are to meet today, Jan. 9, to discuss the corps’ ongoing replenishment of ocean beaches in the area.
Richard Bianchi, head of the Bradley Beach public works department, expects to have a better timetable on the replenishment after he meets with the Army Corps.
Because of the replenishment, Bradley Beach’s use of Christmas trees to shore up dunes on the beachfront is on hold at least for the time being, Bianchi said on Tuesday.
“We’re not allowed to put anything on the beach until the beach-replenishment is complete,” Bianchi said. “I’ve got a lot of people want to bring me trees.”
An estimated 3,000 to 4,000 trees from last year were buried on the beach in dunes, Bianchi said.
