Paul Whistler, Asbury Park – Not much. If they have a strong enough rope, they should all hang. I mean that in the best possible light. I think he’s done as presidential material. Rupert Murdock came out against him. When you have that stuff going in your own parts it doesn’t fare too well.
Joyce Balbo w/Brooke, Belmar – I think it’s all nonsense. I think someone was out to get him, for revenge. I can’t imagine what that woman did. The George Washington bridge is always a mess. I used to drive it when I lived in New York. It’s embarrassing to him. I don’t’ think one person can fix the world. Watergate. Now we have Bridgegate. What else? I don’t think they should have apologized. Why should he?
Carolyn Dougherty & Anthony Siciliano, Neptune – Carolyn: I find it hard to believe he didn’t know what was going on. He’s covering his tracks pretty well. I don’t know if I would vote for him again. He sounds like a bully to me. Anthony: I think he’s a man who knows how to get what he wants, when he wants. I would vote for him. He’s Italian, what can I say.
Jimmy Kaplow, Loch Arbour & Denise Geary, Oakhurst – Denise: I hope he wasn’t involved, but his personality and past actions suggest that he might have been spiteful and involved. And, I hope the woman isn’t taking the fall. Honesty is the best policy. Jimmy: I am a lifelong Democrat. I like Governor Christie, I think he did a good job with the hurricane. He has an oversized personality and physical presence, which can be construed as being abusive. But, in certain times, you have to be. However, if he lied, he should lose his job. Simple as that.
David Low & Rose Loikitz, Oakhurst – We’ve always been in favor of the Governor, and we believe him. This is an unfortunate situation, but we feel he’s been truthful and forth coming. And eventually he’ll get past this; it already has. We feel he’s the right man for the job.
Pete Mantas, Interlaken – Our governor wouldn’t do a thing like that. He’s taken a long time to build his reputation. I think it was someone who just wanted to sore some brownie points. The girl got carried away. It backfired.
Nyna McKittrick, Colts Neck – I love our governor. And I want him to focus on New Jersey for a little while because we need his guidance. He’s been a good father to New Jersey and I want him to keep that focus in mind.
Jan McLaren, Oakhurst – I think he should he held accountable. The buck stop here. Stop blaming it on everybody else. As a teacher, I feel he is very unfair to the teachers in New Jersey.
Luis Pulido, ThriftyTreasures – I’m extremely disappointed at the actions of his administration and I think this seriously hurt his chance for future office.
Dorothy Ruiz & R. J., Deal – R.J.: I think the media is biased against him. I think he did show good leadership by doing what he did. He fired those responsible and showed leadership, which is lacking in Washington. Dorothy: I think he’s an upstanding, honest person that wouldn’t get involved in something so low. There are people out to get him. He’s so well liked, of course people are out to get him.
Ralph & Luke Schell, W. Allenhurst – Ralph: I think he’s been lambasted. They let Pancazi go; they let the IRS go. This has been going on for a few days and the press is all over it. It’s much ado about nothing. Luke: I don’t know. I don’t like any politicians. They’ve all got scandals.
Chris Siciliano, Ocean – I think the jury is still out. There’s more to come. His bid to be president was looking good – up until this happened. But he is resilient. We all know that. I don’t think he’ll be convicted of anything. But I think his bid to be president is done. People like his style but this crossed the line.
Parelee Simmons, Asbury Park – Wow! that’s a trick question right? I think he’s doing his job as well, under the circumstances. There’s a lot of scrutiny with all the politicians these days. But I like him, regardless. I think he’s been a good governor.
