Is winter over yet…? A relatively warm week ahead is a tantalizing taste of spring…but forecasters say it’s back to the deep freeze before the blossoms come. So, we asked these Shore area folks, ‘What do you do when you’re snowbound at home?” Click on any image for a reply and to start the slideshow…
Frank D’Alessandro, Asbury park – I bake bread and I watch old movies while the bread is rising.
I watch Turner Classic movies.
I’m certainly not watching the Olympics.
I don’t find them interesting at all.
Jesus Flores w/Sherlyn, Bradley Beach – When we’re struck in the house, I read with Sherlyn. We play games together, Now, we have another little girl, Karen. She’s a week old.
We go to Sweetpepper and Fish restaurant in Asbury Park to eat.
Mignon Glenn, Neptune – I go to Delponte’s Bakery in Bradley Beach and load up on almond danish before the storm.
At home I catch up on laundry and an occasional nap.
I also do a lot of reading and listen to music.
John Morton & Faye Hudson – John: I’m a great sports and political fan.
I do a lot of reading, watching TV and writing.
Faye: I live in Phillips Towers.
We have programs inside.
The Jersey Shore Daycare has some excellent programs. Crafts, physical therapy, healthcare bingo.
We stay busy.
Shawn Muldoon, Asbury Park – I work at home. I’m taking care of my partner with a broken leg. He’s been laid up for three weeks.
I walk to Frank’s to get some food.
I usually go to Wegman’s to stock up.
Tess Nielsen w/John Erik, Avon – We play music and we play games.
The dogs get kind of bored, but we play with them inside.
We also write. We’re all writers.
The boys write stories and do their homework.
I write dissertations and my husband writes computer code.
Roxanne Rosa w/Ethan, Bradley Beach – We stay home. I still work because I do home daycare. I have to shovel out so the kids can get in.
We play games. We sing.
They tear up the house because we can’t go outside.
Ethan plays video games and chases the dog around the house.
Cheryl Rosenfeld, E. Brunswick – When I’m snowed in, I make soup to keep my body warm, and watch the snow falling outside. – I practice my yoga on the floor at my house.
It’s simple and easy, and it makes me feel good.
I get all limber and ready for shoveling.
During the summer I teach yoga on the beach in Bradley and Avon.
Christine Rotolo, Main Avenue Galleria – I paint. I bake cookies with my kids. We play board games.
We watch movies and snuggle up on the couch.
Basically, I create a lot of art.
Stop at the Galleria and see for yourself.
I make handpainted jewelry, too.
Stephanie Sanders & John Herguth, Asbury Park – Make a fire and drink Jameson.
We listen to records, actual vinyl.
We play Risk. We cook.
John made a nice vegan lentil soup because it takes a little while.
He also writes music and plays the guitar.
If we can walk we go to the Bond St. Bar.
They are always open.
Heather Schulze, Ocean Grove – I tend to sit on the couch with a blanket and my dog, Norman.
I tend to just hunker down.
Nagel’s is always open across the street from us.
If I need something I can always go there.
A glass of wine helps, too.
