Ocean-enviroAs a certified Sustainable Jersey Municipality, the Ocean Township Environmental Commission invites the public to attend the fourth annual Green Fair at the Ocean Township Library on Sat., June 14 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The free, family-friendly festival is dedicated to the Earth.

Programs for all ages will include:
> 10 a.m. Sing into Summer with members of the Ocean Township Intermediate School Chorus. Come and allow the children’s voices to delight your ears and tend to your soul’s garden.
> 10:30 a.m The Energy Hog is back. Join this dastardly character, who makes learning about energy fun, while empowering children to take the lead at home by inspiring their families to make wise energy decisions.
> 11 a.m.. The Good, The Bad, and the GMOs. Regina McDuffee, store manager, of Dean’s Natural Foods Market will explain the differences between “safe and healthy foods” and those that may have been tampered with using genetically modified organisms. GMO program and display table will appear on behalf of the “Non-GMO Verified Project”.
> 12 noon The Library’s Garden…the planning, process, and planting. Join professional landscape designer and Ocean Township Garden Club representative Laurel Von Gerichten for a slideshow and talk about bringing to life a sustainable green space in front of the library. Then, watch the garden grow, as you visit.
> 1 p.m. Native Plants at the Shore. Discover the beauty of local native plants and their importance in securing our future. Join Monmouth County Master Gardener John Gibbons, for a talk about coastal gardens, native plants, and gardening tips. Select the best plants for your garden, and your garden will give back to you!
> Ongoing from 12 noon to 1:30 p.m. Make a Clean Sweep! Ocean Township Boy Scout Troop 70 will lead several “clean sweeps” of the library grounds and surrounding area. First, learn about pollution and how it affects our Earth, and then take a short hike with the troop to help remove unwanted rubbish from our library environment and surrounding area! Parents, please supervise children under the age of 14.

Also, the Ocean Township Girl Scout Cadette Troop 212 and their leader Jessie Blair will offer demonstrations and displays about saving Nature by saving energy.
